Elote, Japanese-Style

Elote, Japanese-Style

Looking to add a little kick and twist to your traditional corn on the cob? Meet Japanese-style elote. .  Fresh corn brushed with KEWPIE mayonnaise, layered with wasabi paste,Parmesan cheese, and a sprinkle of Shichimi pepper.  Creamy, spicy, savory, with just enough crunch to keep things interesting.

What is Elote?

Elote is a traditional Mexican street corn recipe that’s grilled or charred, and then generously topped with a diverse array of spices, rubs, sauces, dressings, and toppings.

At KEWPIE, we take it in a slightly different direction. Shichimi pepper brings warmth and citrusy spice, wasabi adds a clean hit of heat and KEWPIE mayo ties it all together with that unmistakable rich, umami finish.

Ingredients

  • 2 ‏Fresh Ears of Corn, Cooked or Charred Over Grill
  • 2 Tbsp ‏Wasabi Paste
  • 2 Tbsp ‏Kewpie Mayonnaise
  • 2 Tbsp ‏Parmesan cheese
  • ‏Shichimi pepper (Japanese pepper mix)

Shichimi pepper and wasabi add a kick to this corn recipe, topped with flavorful Kewpie Mayo.

Directions

Spread wasabi first, then mayonnaise over corn. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese and Shichimi over mayonnaise.
